On Monday 15th June Fr Peter Walters of the charity "Let the Children Live" has been in the parish. He spoke to the children in our Aided School this morning about his work with the Street Children of Medellin, Columbia where they are regarded as "the disposable ones."
His talk was toned down in content for the children, but sparked off 15 minutes of intense and intelligent questioning from our 9-11 year olds.
This evening Fr Peter spoke in church for the Parish Family and it was good to welcome some of our Roman Catholic friends too. This presentation was far more harrowing than the morning's presentation. Many of our folk left afterwards having been made really aware of just how much pain and suffering is inflicted on children in a forgotten part of the world. Yes there is great need in Africa and parts of Asia, but South America comes last in the queue.
