Sarah Silverman says Andy Samberg's stuff looks cheap

The panel at the June 19, 2010, All-Star Comedy Roundtable, which included Ben Stiller, Zach Galifianakis, Andy Samberg and Sarah Silverman, made moderator Brian Williams and each other laugh plenty of times during the discussion about comedy...



The moderator and four actors conducted the discussion sitting onstage in armchairs and on a long couch. One of the dominating topics was how quickly Samberg's digital shorts for "Saturday Night Live" had rocketed into cultural fame.

"I'm probably the least famous person here. Why did I have to go first?" Samberg joked after Williams asked him about his videos. "('Saturday Night Live' executives) knew we'd shot videos before, and they said, 'Hey, we're always looking for short films.'"

He said "SNL" executives asked for the shorts because it filled a need in the show.

"They need something to play while they switch sets," Samberg said. "So they're like, 'We need pre-taped stuff, and if it's funny, even better.'"

Silverman said she had always admired Samberg's videos.

"It shows comedy in its rawest form is funnier than something with a bunch of money thrown at it," she said.

"So I think Sarah was saying your stuff looks cheap?" Stiller added.

The actors often interrupted each other, either to contribute seriously to the discussion or to riff on the others. At one point when Samberg was speaking, Silverman said loudly, "I'm bored." ...

In addition, audience members were given the opportunity to ask the stars questions. Topics ranged from friendships among comedians, the experience of being on "Saturday Night Live," and whether the career of a comedian is what the four dreamed of when they were younger. Galifianakis, Samberg and Silverman all said that had always been their goal.

"I kind of always wanted to direct movies," Stiller said in reply to the question. "So I never thought I'd be acting this much. But I'm very happy."

So what's the most interesting part here for me is that Lorne and the producers were interested in The Lonely Island's digital shorts in order to fill out time to switch sets and costumes. That's probably why they air commercials multiple times and how they select where to place the digital shorts (especially really short ones that come in threes, like the MacGruber digital shorts).

Sarah Silverman licks Andy Samberg's nose!!!



At the Nantucket Film Festival, Sarah Silverman finally got to do what she has apparently wanted to do for a long time—lick Andy Samberg's nose! The Saturday Night Live funnyman allowed Silverman to taste his schnoz in front of a few hundred people while they were panelists on Ben Stiller's All-Star Comedy Roundtable.

Jonnie Dier R.I.P.


Dyer FDC

It is with great sadness to report South London Graffiti Legend Dier FDC has passed away due to long running health issues. Throughout the 90's and early 2000's Dyer, alongside Char, Ser, Shred and the FDC crew dominated the South London Graff scene. Everyone who knew him will tell you he was a real character, free spirit and one of a kind.



"For Tizer and me, Dier and the FDC crew were a big influence on us, and I met him quite a few times, and had a lot of respect for him. I remember one time hanging out with Dier and Hox, and they were talking about going fishing. The image of Hox and Dier fishing to me was really funny. Dier said, "yeah Shucks!!! Its not all about Graff you know! We will go some time" Unfortunately I never did have the opportunity to go fishing. Our regards go out to his family and friends" - Shucks One ID

SHPE-NYC would like to send a very warm  thank you to Dora Maria Abreu, SHPE-NYC Lifetime Member, as she has completed her term as the SHPE Region 4 Vice President, which spanned  a total of 2 years (2008-2010). During her term, she was assisted by Regional Student Representatives (RSRs) Delia Rios (2009) and Victor Martinez (2010). Dora led numerous initiatives and accomplishments including:
  • A 66% increase in the number of SHPE Professional Membership
  • A 61% increase in the number of SHPE Lifetime Members
  • A 66% increase in the number of SHPE Junior Chapters
  • Largest Region representation at the SHPE National Conference (2006-2010)
  • An increased communication within the Region by leveraging technologies such as Google Groups, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn
  • Implementation of a Regional book club and "Bits of Knowledge"
  • Successful RLDC and Regional Retreat conferences
Prior to this position, Dora was SHPE National Secretary for a total of 6 years, where she standardized how are documents were prepared and archived, as well as setting up the templates for various documents that have been shared across all regions.

Region 4 is the largest Region in SHPE for Professionals, Students and SHPE Juniorr chapters.


Dora began her career as a software developer, and then went on to other technical roles dealing with Technology that dealt with migration and integration testing of legacy applications where she formulated, developed, coordinated, and implemented procedures to ensure that quality assurance standards were met. 

Dora is also a lifetime member for SWE, NSBE, ALPFA, and NAACP. She is an avid volunteer and strong advocate in the community especially for youth, women & technology issues. Recent recognitions include selection as one of Maybelline's 10 most inspiring women - Empowerment through Education winners featured in People En Espanol Magazine's for inspiring and contributing to community (Dec 2007 / Jan 2008 Edition). In 2006 she was listed in Hispanic Engineer & Information Technology Magazine's annual list of "100 Most Important Hispanics in Technology and Business" for 2006. 

Thank you again Dora for your commitment to the success of both Region 4 and the SHPE organization as a whole.

SHPE-NYC would like to congratulate SHPE-NYC Lifetime Member, David Solis, who will soon take on the role of SHPE Region 4 Vice President (2010-2012) starting July 1st.  We are very proud of his commitment to the organization, and we are confident that under David's leadership, he will be able to continue to build on the success that previous Vice President, Dora Maria Abreu, has built the foundation for.

David first became a member of SHPE at Stony Brook University, where he studied Computer Science and Business.  He reconnected with SHPE-NYC in 2002, where he held the chapter's first I.T. Director position and launched the SHPE-NYC web site.  


David is currently a Senior Database Administrator (AVP) in Citigroup's North American Operations and Technology group since 2004.  He began his career as a C programmer in the defense industry, then moved into web development in the media industry.  Following that, he became a consultant where he worked various positions including Unix administration, database administration, Voice-over-IP engineering, and Program Management on Wall Street.

Did Andy Samberg impact Jack Johnson's new album?



Who knew that Andy Samberg’s impersonation of Jack Johnson on Saturday Night Live as the host of “The Mellow Show” would have such a big impact on the Hawaiian-born singer? Johnson plays against typecasting on his sixth album, which clocks in at just under 42 minutes and features 13 songs. Most of them are upbeat, and if not scorchers, are certainly jammy.

The title track, with its Beatles and Pink Floyd traces, for instance. Or the ‘50s-style romp, “At Or With Me.” Or even better, the bluesy “Bad Wine, Mistakes, Mythology,” which slurred together is fun to sing along to. Johnson’s quirkier side shines through on “Pictures of People Taking Pictures.” He does get mellow here and there with acoustic numbers, but compared to 2008’s subdued Sleeping Through The Static, To the Sea is an adrenaline rush.

Andy Samberg hanging out with Anna Faris while filming



How lucky is Anna Faris? The blond beauty was photographed goofing off with the hunky Chris Evans on the set of their movie, What’s Your Number? in Boston, Massachusetts on Monday, June 14th, 2010. Joining the pretty duo on set was funny guy Andy Samberg.

The romantic comedy follows a woman looks back at the past twenty men she’s had relationships with in her life and wonders if one of them might be her one true love.

This will be Evans final film before starring in “Captain America: The First Avenger.”

BLESSED JOHN HENRY NEWMAN, PRIEST

Born in London in 1801, he was for over twenty years an Anglican clergyman and Fellow of Oriel College, Oxford. His studies of the early Church led him progressively towards Catholicism, and in 1845 he embraced “the one true fold of the Redeemer”. In 1847 he was ordained priest and went on to found the Oratory of St Philip Neri in England. He was a prolific and influential writer on a variety of subjects. In 1879 he was created Cardinal by Pope Leo XIII. Praised for his humility, unstinting care of souls and contributions to the intellectual life of the Church, he died in Birmingham on 11 August 1890.

It was like coming into port after a rough sea.

From the time that I became a Catholic, of course I have no further history of my religious opinions to narrate. In saying this, I do not mean to say that my mind has been idle, or that I have given up thinking on theological subjects; but that I have had no variations to record, and have had no anxiety of heart whatever. I have been in perfect peace and contentment; I never have had one doubt. I was not conscious to myself, on my conversion, of any change, intellectual or moral, wrought in my mind. I was not conscious of firmer faith in the fundamental truths of Revelation, or of more self-command; I had not more fervour; but it was like coming into port after a rough sea; and my happiness on that score remains to this day without interruption.

Nor had I any trouble about receiving those additional articles, which are not found in the Anglican Creed. Some of them I believed already, but not any one of them was a trial to me. I made a profession of them upon my reception with the greatest ease, and I have the same ease in believing them now. I am far of course from denying that every article of the Christian Creed, whether as held by Catholics or by Protestants, is beset with intellectual difficulties; and it is simple fact, that, for myself, I cannot answer those difficulties. Many persons are very sensitive of the difficulties of Religion; I am as sensitive of them as any one; but I have never been able to see a connexion between apprehending those difficulties, however keenly, and multiplying them to any extent, and on the other hand doubting the doctrines to which they are attached. Ten thousand difficulties do not make one doubt, as I understand the subject; difficulty and doubt are incommensurate. There of course may be difficulties in the evidence; but I am speaking of difficulties intrinsic to the doctrines themselves, or to their relations with each other. A man may be annoyed that he cannot work out a mathematical problem, of which the answer is or is not given to him, without doubting that it admits of an answer, or that a certain particular answer is the true one. Of all points of faith, the being of a God is, to my own apprehension, encompassed with most difficulty, and yet borne in upon our minds with most power.

People say that the doctrine of Transubstantiation is difficult to believe; I did not believe the doctrine till I was a Catholic. I had no difficulty in believing it, as soon as I believed that the Catholic Roman Church was the oracle of God, and that she had declared this doctrine to be part of the original revelation. It is difficult, impossible, to imagine, I grant;—but how is it difficult to believe? …

I believe the whole revealed dogma as taught by the Apostles, as committed by the Apostles to the Church, and as declared by the Church to me. I receive it, as it is infallibly interpreted by the authority to whom it is thus committed, and (implicitly) as it shall be, in like manner, further interpreted by that same authority till the end of time. I submit, moreover, to the universally received traditions of the Church, in which lies the matter of those new dogmatic definitions which are from time to time made, and which in all times are the clothing and the illustration of the Catholic dogma as already defined. And I submit myself to those other decisions of the Holy See, theological or not, through the organs which it has itself appointed, which, waiving the question of their infallibility, on the lowest ground come to me with a claim to be accepted and obeyed. Also, I consider that, gradually and in the course of ages, Catholic inquiry has taken certain definite shapes, and has thrown itself into the form of a science, with a method and a phraseology of its own, under the intellectual handling of great minds, such as St Athanasius, St Augustine, and St Thomas; and I feel no temptation at all to break in pieces the great legacy of thought thus committed to us for these latter days.

He danced with Justin Timberlake in the "You-know-what In A Box" viral video, crossed the galaxy as a "Space Chimp," and showed us all what a "Hot Rod" he is. But Andy Samberg is also a huge soccer fan, and he's got World Cup fever.

"I'm diagnosed," Samberg said while helping promote a 2010 FIFA World Cup video game at Universal CityWalk in Los Angeles. "I did not get my flu shot for World Cup fever. Be careful though, it's similar to swine flu, and you do not want that."

The "Saturday Night Live" star, who says he was "okay" when he played soccer as a kid, acknowledges that the sport has struggled to score interest in the U.S. on a professional level.

"Americans like a lot of scoring. If soccer games were, like, 20-15, I think people would watch a lot more. But I feel like every year it gets bigger here."

One place where soccer, er, football, is big is England. The U.S. team will go toe-to-toe with the English on Saturday in both squads' opening game of the 2010 World Cup. Samberg says he likes the Red, White and Blue's chances, especially with star midfielder Landon Donovan.

"He certainly has one of the most superhero-ey names of anyone in the history of sports," claims Samberg. "He sounds like a character from one of the 'Star Wars' prequels."

But Saturday's game between the United States and England is no joke... and Samberg believes that it should even have a special name.

"(England) calls it football and we call it soccer. I decree this game 'Futsoc.'

A. Pendahuluan

Metode Pembelajaran adalah cara yang di gunakan oleh seorang guru dalam menyampaikan suatu materi pembelajaran agar tujuan pembelajaran bisa tercapai dan supaya pembelajaran dapat berlangsung dengan baik dan siswa dapat dengan mudah mengerjakan soal dan senang hati tanpa terpaksa.

Usaha-usaha guru dalam membalajarkan siswa merupakan bagian yang sangat penting dalam mencapai keberhasilan tujuan pembelajaran yang sudak direncanakan. Oleh karena itu, pemilihan berbagai metode, strategi, pendekatan serta teknik pembelajaran merupakan suatu hal yang utama.

Model pembelajaran kooperatif merupakan suatu model pembelajaran yang mengutamakan adanya kelompok-kelompok. Setiap siswa yang ada dalam kelompok mempunyai tingkat kemampuan yang berbeda-beda (tinggi, sedang, rendah) dan jika memungkinkan anggota kelompok bersal dari ras, budaya, suku yang berbeda-beda serta memperhatikan kesetaraan jender. Model pembelajaran kooperatif mengutamakan kerja sama dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan untuk menerapkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam rangka mencapai tujuan pembelajaran.

Tujuan model pembelajaran kooperatif adalah hasil belajar akademik siswa meningkat dan siswa dapat menerima berbagai keragaman dari temannya, serta pengembangan keterampilan sosial.

Menurut Nur (2000), ciri-ciri model pembelajaran kooperatif sebagai berikut :

1. Siswa dalam kelompok secara kooperatif menyelesaikan materi belajar sesuai kompetensi dasar yang akan dicapai.

2. Kelompok dibentuk dari siswa yang memiliki kemampuan yang berbeda-beda, baik tingkat kemampuan tinggi, sedang dan rendah. Jika mungkkin anggota kelompok berasal dari ras, budaya, suku yang berbeda serta memperhatikan kesetaraan jender.

3. penghargaan lebih menekankan pada kelompok dari pada masing-masing individu.

B.Pembelajaran Kooperatif Tipe STAD ( Student Team Achievement Divisions )

Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) dikembangkan oleh Robert Slavin dan teman-temannya di Universitas John Hopkin dan merupakan pendekatan pembelajaran kooperatif yang paling sederhana. Guru yang menggunakan STAD, juga mengacu kepada belajar kelompok siswa, menyajikan informasi akademik baru kepada siswa setiap minggu menggunakan presentasi verbal atau teks. Siswa dalam suatu kelas tertentu dipecah menjadi kelompok dengan anggota 4-5 orang, setiap kelompok haruslah heterogen, terdiri dari laki-laki dan perempuan, berasal dari berbagai suku, memiliki kemampuan tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Anggota tim menggunakan lembar kegiatan atau perangkat pembelajaran yang lain untuk menuntaskan materi pelajarannya dan kemudian saling membantu satu sama lain untuk memahami bahan pelajaran melalui tutorial, kuis, satu sama lain dan atau melakukan diskusi. Secara individual setiap minggu atau setiap dua minggu siswa diberi kuis. Kuis itu diskor, dan tiap individu diberi skor perkembangan. Skor perkembangan ini tidak berdasarkan pada skor mutlak siswa, tetapi berdasarkan pada seberapa jauh skor itu melampaui rata-rata skor yang lalu. Setiap minggu pada suatu lembar penilaian singkat atau dengan cara lain, diumumkan tim-tim dengan skor tertinggi, siswa yang mencapai skor perkembangan tinggi, atau siswa yang mencapai skor sempurna pada kuis-kuis itu.

Karakteristik STAD menurut Arends (2001) adalah sebagai berikut:

§ Tujuan kognitif : informasi akademik sederhana

§ Tujuan sosial : kerja kelompok dan kerja sama

§ Struktur tim : kelompok belajar heterogen dengan 4-5 orang anggota

§ Pemilihan topik pelajaran : biasanya oleh guru

§ Tugas utama : siswa dapat menggunakan lembar kegiatan dan saling membantu untuk menuntaskan materi belajarnya

§ Penilaian : tes mingguan

Menurut Slavin (2008), STAD terdiri atas lima komponen utama yaitu presentasi kelas, tim kuis, skor kemajuan individual, rekognisi tim.

1. Presentasi kelas

Materi diperkenalkan dalam presentasi di dalam kelas. Ini merupakan pengajaran langsung seperti yang sering dilakukan atau diskusi.

2. Tim

Tim terdiri dari empat atau lima siswa yang mewakili seluruh bagian dari kelas dalam hal kinerja akademik, jenis kelamin, ras dan etnisitas. Fungsi utama tim adalah memastikan bahwa semua anggota tim benar-benar belajar, dan lebih khususnya lagi adalah mempersiapkan anggotanya untuk bisa mengerjakan kuis dengan baik. Setelah guru menyampaikan materinya, tim berkumpul untuk mempelajari lembar kegiatan atau materi lainnya. Tim adalah fitur yang paling penting dalam STAD. Pada tiap poinnya, yang ditekankan adalah membuat anggota tim melakukan yang terbaik untuk tim, dan tim pun harus melakukan yang terbaik untuk membantu tiap anggotanya.

3. Kuis

Setelah guru memberikan presentasi, siswa akan mengerjakan kuis individual. Para siswa tidak diperbolehkan untuk saling membantu dan mengerjakan kuis. Sehingga setiap siswa bertanggung jawab secara individual untuk memahami materinya.

4. Skor Kemajuan Individual

Gagasan dibalik skor kemajuan individual adalah untuk memberikan kepada tiap siswa tujuan kinerja yang akan dapat dicapai apabila mereka bekerja lebih giat dan memberikan kinerja yang lebih baik dari sebelumnya.

5. Rekognisi Tim

Tim akan mendapatkan sertifikat atau bentuk penghargaan yang lain apabila skor rata-rata mereka mencapai kriteria tertentu. Skor tim siswa dapat juga digunakan untuk menentukan dua puluh persen dari peringkat mereka.

Langkah-langkah penerapan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD (Slavin, 2008).

1. Guru menyampaikan materi pembelajaran atau permasalahan kepada siswa sesuai kompetensi dasar yang akan dicapai.

2. Guru memberikan tes/kuis kepada setiap siswa secara individual sehingga akan diperoleh skor awal.

3. Guru membentuk beberapa kelompok. Setiap kelompok terdiri dari 4 – 5 siswa dengan kemampuan yang berbeda-beda (tinggi, sedang dan rendah). Jika mungkin anggota kelompok berasal dari ras, budaya, suku yang berbeda serta kesetaraan jender.

4. Bahan materi yang telah dipersiapkan didiskusikan dalam kelompok untuk mencapai kompetensi dasar. Pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD, biasanya digunakan untuk penguatan pemahaman materi

5. Guru memfasilitasi siswa dalam membuat rangkuman, mengarahkan, dan memberikan penegasan pada materi pembelajaran yang telah dipelajari.

6. Guru memberikan tes/kuis kepada setiap siswa secara individual.

Guru memberi penghargaan pada kelompok berdasarkan perolehan nilai peningkatan hasil belajar individual dari skor dasar ke skor kuis berikutnya (terkini)

C. Analisis Kekurangan dan kelebihan STAD

  1. Kelebihan model pembelajaran Kooperatif STAD

Menurut Davidson (dalam Nurasma,2006:26) :

* Meningkatkan kecakapan individu

* Meningkatkan kecakapan kelompok

* Meningkatkan komitmen

* Menghilangkan prasangka buruk terhadap teman sebaya

* Tidak bersifat kompetitif

* Tidak memiliki rasa dendam

  1. Kekurangan model pembelajaran kooperatif STAD

Menurut Slavin (dalam Nurasma 2006:2007 )yaitu:

* Konstribusi dari siswa berprestasi rendah menjadi kurang

* Siswa berprestasi tinggi akan mengarah pada kekecewaan karena peran anggota yang pandai lebih dominan.

D. Contoh Simulasi

  1. Mintalah anggota kelompok memindahkan meja / bangku mereka bersama-sama dan pindah kemeja kelompok.

2. Berilah waktu lebih kurang 10 menit untuk memilih nama kelompok.

3. Bagikan lembar kegiatan siswa.

4. Serahkan pada siswa untuk bekerja sama dalam pasangan, bertiga atau satu kelompok utuh, tergantung pada tujuan yang sedang dipelajari. Jika mereka mengerjakan soal, masing-masing siswa harus mengerjakan soal sendiri dan kemudian dicocokkan dengan temannya. Jika salah satu tidak dapat mengerjakan suatu pertanyaan, teman satu kelompok bertanggung jawab menjelaskannya. Jika siswa mengerjakan dengan jawaban pendek, maka mereka lebih sering bertanya dan kemudian antara teman saling bergantian memegang lembar kegiatan dan berusaha menjawab pertanyaan itu.

5. Tekankan pada siswa bahwa mereka belum selesai belajar sampai mereka yakin teman-teman satu kelompok dapat mencapai nilai sampai 100 pada kuis. Pastikan siswa mengerti bahwa lembar kegiatan tersebut untuk belajar tidak hanya untuk diisi dan diserahkan. Jadi penting bagi siswa mempunyai lembar kegiatan untuk mengecek diri mereka dan teman-teman sekelompok mereka pada saat mereka belajar. Ingatkan siswa jika mereka mempunyai pertanyaan, mereka seharusnya menanyakan teman sekelompoknya sebelum bertanya guru.

6. Sementara siswa bekerja dalam kelompok, guru berkeliling dalam kelas. Guru sebaiknya memuji kelompok yang semua anggotanya bekerja dengan baik, yang anggotanya duduk dalam kelompoknya untuk mendengarkan bagaimana anggota yang lain bekerja dan sebagainya.

7. Kuis dikerjakan siswa secara mandiri. Hal ini bertujuan untuk menunjukkan apa saja yang telah diperoleh siswa selama belajar dalam kelompok. Hasil kuis digunakan sebagai nilai perkembangan individu dan disumbangkan dalam nilai perkembangan kelompok.

8. Penghargaan Kelompok, Langkah pertama yang harus dilakukan pada kegiatan ini adalah menghitung nilai kelompok dan nilai perkembangan individu dan memberi sertifikat atau penghargaan kelompok yang lain. Pemberian penghargaan kelompok berdasarkan pada rata-rata nilai perkembangan individu dalam kelompoknya.
