Calverton Parish's growth....

Calverton PCC this evening. Short meeting, but we have agreed the beginning of the consultation over merging the parishes PCC's. A group is to be set up to draw up a Draft Scheme for the merger to repot back by next Autumn. Calverton PCC have elected two representatives and it is hoped that Stony Stratford PCC will do the same at its January Meeting.

With massive development taking place in Calverton Parish over the next five to ten years (forecast in population growth is from 150 souls to 16,500) and the major changes that will bring in terms of demands on clergy time I see a need to reduce time spent on administration and also a need to safeguard the interests of both parishes in what will be very changed circumstances with the relationship between the two parishes facing a radically new challenge.

Negotiations between myself, the Diocesan Education Officers and Local Authority Education Department regarding another Aided School are in need of progressing as part of this too.

Calverton Church has prepared well for the future development over the last few years by installing kitchen and toilet facilities and now having a car park for 60 cars. Negotiations will soon need to take place over the funding of a community use space at the Parish Church too. Initial discussions about funding brought a positive indication. There is a need to build on this.
