More on trains....

A little announcement from Forward in Faith this lunchtime on the decision of the General Synod to send the Daft Legislation on Women Bishops to the Revision Stage. This seems to me like sending the goods train into the sidings and shunting the trucks around. Perhaps Fr Awdry was correct when he wrote about "troublesome trucks." I leave it to you, dear reader, to decide which truck represents various aspects of trouble. Meanwhile, out of the sidings there are many more journeys to take, people to meet and souls to be saved.

An announcement from FiF UK:

The General Synod of the Church of England votes

Feb 11, 2009
Forward in Faith is of course disappointed that the General Synod of the Church of England has today concluded that the draft Measure to permit the ordination of women to the episcopate, with its accompanying illustrative Code of Practice, should be remitted to a Revision Committee.
Forward in Faith will continue to argue, as it has for a considerable time, that it is only when suitable and equitable provision is made for those unable in conscience to receive this change that the Church of England will be ready to proceed in this matter and it will continue to support the Catholic Group in General Synod in its endeavours to impose meaningful revision on draft legislation which is, in our estimation, not fit for purpose.

The Voting was as follows:

In favour: 281

Against: 114

Abstain: 13
