A discussion on technology trends and its impact on society was presented by Carlos Dominguez, Cisco Systems Senior Vice President, Office of the Chairman of the Board and CEO. Carlos Dominguez is one of the top 50 Hispanic executives in the United States. His close relationships with worldwide communications providers, including cable, mobile operators, and content providers, give him a unique perspective on how the Internet is changing, and how technology and trends such as TelePresence, video and social networking are impacting our lives at work and at home. SHPE CEO Enrique Gomez also spoke to the audience via WebEx about SHPE and the mission and challenged the SHPE-NYC chapter to exceed their original membership goals, and strive for 200 members this year


Hispanic Culture Event: "Noche en el Teatro" and message from Alberto Montufar

SHPE-NYC's Hispanic Heritage Month Event featured a private Performance of "La Celestina" at Teatro Circulo along with a special presentation by guest speaker Alberto Montufar, Managing Director at Citi. A perfect combination to recognize and celebrate the achievements, history, culture and people of Hispanic heritage. Alberto Montufar opened the evening by speaking to a capacity crowd on the importance of heritage and your career. He shared examples from his life and described how embracing our Hispanic heritage, we can excel in the workplace. The performance followed and the night concluded with networking among SHPE-NYC members, guests, and the cast of the play.
